Key takeaways
- Compare the same generator duty, rental dates and package scope.
- Fuel tanks, diesel supply and refuelling are separate items to confirm.
- Check delivery, collection, cables, operator hours and maintenance in writing.
- Share your load, site access, start date and expected operating hours for a useful quote.
There is no single generator rental price for every project in Qatar. A generator-only hire and a package with delivery, cables, fuel and an operator cover different scopes. Ask for an itemised quotation so you can compare the total agreed cost and the work each supplier will provide.
What affects generator rental cost
- Capacity and duty: the required kVA, open or silent enclosure, and whether the unit is for regular operation or standby.
- Rental dates and runtime: the start date, duration and expected operating hours per day.
- Site work: delivery distance, vehicle access, offloading, positioning, connection and collection.
- Equipment and support: cable runs, distribution boards, ATS, fuel tank, diesel supply and operator attendance.
Six inclusions to check before you book
- Generator hire: confirm the rating, enclosure, rental period, included operating hours and charges for extensions or additional hours.
- Delivery and collection: confirm transport, offloading, positioning, installation, testing and removal, including any site access requirements.
- Fuel: confirm the tank, initial diesel fill, refuelling responsibility and charging basis. A fuel tank does not by itself mean diesel is included.
- Cables and distribution: confirm cable lengths, connection points, distribution boards, ATS and cable protection rather than assuming they come with the generator.
- Operator attendance: if needed, confirm the attendance hours and responsibilities covered by the quotation.
- Maintenance and breakdown support: confirm scheduled servicing, access for maintenance and the agreed call-out or replacement arrangements.
Ask suppliers to quote the same dates, generator duty and accessories. Compare the total charges and exclusions before choosing a headline daily or monthly rate.
Agree the rental period and running hours
Tell the supplier whether the requirement is a one-day event, a shutdown or an ongoing site rental. Check how the hire period is measured, what happens if the project runs longer and whether additional operating hours affect the charge. Ask for the maintenance scope to be stated for your rental term.
What to send for an accurate quotation
- Equipment to power, with kW or kVA, voltage and phases if known. Include motors, pumps and air conditioning in the load details.
- Required start date, rental duration and expected operating hours per day.
- Site location, delivery access, positioning requirements and approximate cable distance.
- Requirements for a silent unit, fuel tank, refuelling, operator, distribution board or ATS.
Cigale's Request a Quote form already has fields for capacity, dates, duration, location, cable length and support requirements. If you do not know the kVA, choose 'Not sure — need advice' and list your equipment under Load Details. Our team can then recommend a suitable unit and confirm availability and the quoted scope.
Frequently asked questions
Check the written quotation. The fuel tank, initial diesel fill and ongoing refuelling can be separate items. Confirm who supplies the diesel, how it is charged and who is responsible for refilling during the rental.
The package depends on the agreed scope. Specify your cable distance and connection requirements, and say whether you need an operator. Confirm the equipment and attendance hours listed in the quotation before booking.
Compare the planned duration and operating hours with the total cost of hire or ownership, including transport, fuel and maintenance. Cigale supplies generators for rental and sale and can discuss both options for your requirement.
